Not the Way I Planned It

So, my goal in life is to live the summers in Omaha and winters in Texas or somewhere warmer. So, I decided to make my way down south on September 30th. Didn’t make it too far.

About an hour outside of Wichita my truck over heated. Are you kidding me… this again??!! So I called Christian Brothers in Omaha in tears and asked him what to do. He said hang tight and pull over. Which I did. He sent me the Christian Brothers info in Wichita and I had my car and camper towed. That was a fun way to spend $1400.

I had a stay planned at a Loves anyway, so I had my camper towed there. Next day I get a call from Christian Bros and the intake manifold was shot. However they said warranty covered it and I would soon be on my way. However, the spot at Loves was booked.

So… I had to get my camper towed again, to Air Capital RV park. It’s like a big parking lot with grass between spots. It was really nice and the staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, I did not take photos. A few days later I get a call that my car is ready and 10 minutes later I get a call saying “your warranty will not cover this so you need to call them”.

Fuck me. I call and turns out my truck is over mileage. I argue and I’m all like “but you approved this last week” and they tell me Christian Bros gave them the WRONG mileage! Are you kidding me! So long story short, Christian Bros approved the warranty work off the wrong mileage and now I’m supposed to pay but why? It’s a $3,000 part and I was told it was approved. They even admitted it was their fault. So they got the Omaha store involved and for 2 days they faught over it.

Finally, they decided to pay and I got my truck back. Off I go and I kid you not… not even 9 miles away and it over heats again. I was sooo upset. I called the Omaha store again and he was so frustrated. He told me to tow my truck to a different Christian Bros and he would take care of me.

Meanwhile…. My time at Air Capital is running out. So… the next morning I get a call at 8:30 saying they were out test driving my car after replacing a thermostat. They would call me back soon to go pick it up. They never called. For hours and I started to worry. Finally I get a call and guess what, my engine failed. That’s right friends, I need a new f-ing engine. The good news is since it was covered under warranty it’s free, bad news is I have no idea how long it will take and I need to leave this RV park.

I cried. For the first time. I was just exhausted. So many questions of what do I do now. Do I give up and go home? Do I just move down to Texas and quit traveling. Lord help me. I have so many friends that want to help but I’m over 4 hours from home and really nothing they can do. But, I need to make a decision.

So, talking to the gal that runs Air Capital, she said they have a sister property 20 some miles down the road. So some calls later, and yet another tow and I’m now here at Hickory Hollow camp ground. I will do another post about them. I remembered photos this time.

How long? I don’t know. But I’m making the most of it. Getting groceries delivered and tackling everything a day at a time.

To be continued…
