A new world to me!! I have never lived South. So I have no idea what’s here. I have to find a new Walmart, New Dogtopia, New Nail Place. Ha!!
A good friend of mine suggested this place from a friend of hers. I was game because it was cheap. So here’s some things to know about this place:
Pros:
You can leave your camper here all year round, can only live here April 1-October 31
Nice little lake here to fish, kayak etc
Very quiet, most people are not full time, during the week I barely see anyone
Gated community
Cons:
It’s gravel and sand so my floors are a mess, but I have a large rug out my door so as long as my dog stays on that we do okay
There’s stickers everywhere. So each time Cooper (my dog) comes in I have to clean him off
They don’t have sewer hookup but there’s a guy here that will empty you twice a week for $20/time which is working out great
My lot is right across from the trash cans and portable restroom so that’s convenient. And I’m right by the entrance and the guy who works the RV Park so that makes me feel safe.
I’ve been sleeping pretty well. Just need to get up once at night and let the dog out. Right now the weather is wonderful so I have windows open.
I’ll post more about this place when the summer hits. Who knows how things will go.
Good morning from Plattsmouth, Nebraska. I hate to say it but its a chilly 42 degrees here but the sun is shining and I have my fireplace going. This is Merritt Beach, the place I will be all summer long. But it took me quite a bit of persistence to make it here:
Okay so, with the rat situation…its finally done! $2600 later done. UGH. Gosh that took the entire week and what a pain. Thank goodness for Steve the handyman and for me being at a location that had hot showers! Yuck, Gross, Hopefully that never happens again.
Now, as I was loading up to leave Galveston, I noticed my rear lights were not working. Great, another thing wrong. So long story short, Steve said they probably needed replaced. So, since I could not drive to Pensacola with no lights, I left my camper (in an actual RV parking lot) and went on to Pensacola. I didn’t care, I wanted to see my son. I paid for a Residence Inn and we had a great week and 1/2 there.
Meantime, I called the RV place a I purchased my RV and ordered lights. They came, I sent them to Steve and low and behold the lights just had a wiring issue and he didn’t need the new lights. UGH.
So now I’m all packed up, ready to go get my RV and come back to Omaha and wait, what, my engine in my truck blows up. YOU GUYS! If I didn’t have bad luck I would have none at all! So three weeks later, I have a new engine in my truck, plus a new thermostate and spark plugs and warranty covered the engine. Mind you, I have had my truck 4 months and its been in the shop 5 times now. FIVE! Thank goodness I have this warranty.
So finally, I left on a Friday night, drove down to Galveston, grabbed my camper, drove back (with several stops on the way) and literrally 5 minutes from the Plattsmouth campground and … my engine over heats! What the Fuck! Seriously! I can hear something boiling. There stuff leaking underneath. I am just so upset. They guy that runs the park here, comes and says “lets just get you parked then I’ll look at your truck”. So with my car boiling over and lights flashing and car dinging I make it to my parking spot and get settled. He does say its my antifreeze that is leaking. Great.
Like the girl that I am, I figured maybe if I let my truck sit over night everything would be fine. Ha! The next morning I drive to the Christian Brothers here in Papillion (closest location) with NEW lights flickering and all sorts of fun stuff and my truck literally dies in their parking lot. Again, I’m pretty pissed at this point. They take a look, can’t keep it from overheatnig and tell me they need to tow it to the other Christian Bros and have them look at it. Great. I let them do their thing, get a rental car this time and I’m back at my campsite.
Long story short, sounds like its the thermostat, Christan Bros will replace for free, (since they replaced it last week), they are paying for my rental car and giving me a free oil change. I am hoping to get my truck back today and be on my little merry way.
Truck is back. Camper is home. And I’m starting my journey. Wish me luck!!
