Mount Pleasant KOA Journey, Texas

Well, I made it this far! 10 hours and 50 minutes and I’m here. I was terrified when I looked at driving this far but it really was not bad at all. I stopped about half way in Jasper, MO, right outside of Joplin at a Loves that has RV spots. It worked really well. Although I did not get any sleep, maybe due to nerves or due to the traffic, it worked to rest my eyes and my body for the night.

The loves has a really nice truck stop. Lots of showers and restrooms and food. I was happy. I was also able to bring my dog inside so that made Cooper happy.

Then on we went to Mount Pleasant, Texas. A town of about 15,000. This KOA is nicely upkept. There’s a lot of permanent and winterizing people here. There’s also a soccer/sports complex very close and my dog and I have gone walking there twice.

There’s also a good variety of concrete and gravel pads. Ask for Concrete, very level and clean.

I have also proven to myself that “I don’t need no stinkin’ man!”. I put together a standing desk (mobile) and a chair all by myself! May have taken some time but I can do this. I don’t need anyone else. I took out the table and chairs on my last trip and now I have a desk and couch, perfect for my working situation. Now just need to get settled.

I was going to travel to Texarcana for 2 weeks next, however the gal that owns the KOA park I’m staying at says that KOA is the only one she would not feel comfortable staying at by herself. She said its been for sale and there’s a mobile home attached to it and she said its just kinda shady, so, I changed up and I’m traveling down to Galveston for 12 days next. Why not? It will take me 2 days to get home but I think that’s fine. Warmer weather and safer situation sounds great to me.

So I spent my first holiday away from family here, Thanksgiving. It was totally fine. Got some texts from friends and family. Also went and had lunch a restaurant called “Sisters Bistro” which is a buffet type place. Seems everyone knows everyone. But they served thanksgiving dinner and OH MY was it good! Especially the sweet potatoes!

And did some laundry. LOL

That’s my update from Mount Pleasant. I will update you all when I get to Galveston.

Museum “putty” works miracles!
