Trip 1 of 1. Here we go! So Prairie Rose is about an hour and 1/2 away from my house in Omaha if you consider I was pulling a camper. The drive went well. Although I did not anticipate going through 80 during rush hour but I took my time and it went fine. The only thing I would change, is to know exactly where I’m going ahead of time. I wish I had stopped at a rest stop to potty and when I got here I didn’t know what camp ground or number I was. But, I just pulled over, parked and looked it up. Not a big deal but good to note going forward.
Found my spot and I pulled in perfect, however, my dumb mind was telling me I was too far away from the utilities so I need to move closer. Finally go there and unhook and the guy next to me was very nice but was like “you’re not level”. And I’m all like “oh its fine”. So I unhook and sweat my balls off and low and behold I was not level. Ha! So I hook back up and straighten back to where I was and voila, I was level. And the water hose and power cable I have are plenty long… geez. But setting up and all took awhile and again, a ton of sweat, but I did it all… by myself!
Okay, so here’s a few flounders I made:
– A/C in the living room was just set to “on” not “auto”, so it ran all night and was SUPER loud (now I know there’s a difference)
– A/C in bedroom was set to “fan” and not “cold” so I was mighty toasty all night long
– I should have brought my own water (I do have a water filter but I can’t figure out how to work it and I ended up running into town to get waters. No biggy, but I will be more prepared next time)
– Bring a bug zapper – just do it, the flys are not horrible but I can see 3 in my kitchen as I’m typing this
I think that’s it. Not too shabby huh?

The spots here are very flat, easy to stabilize. Gravel with grass around them. Where I am at has a picnic table and firepit. I’m on the upper level with water below. I would like to try to be close to water next time but looking around I don’t think they have full hook ups down there, and I bet the mosquitos are bad.
The showers are very nice. Great water pressure. Very clean. I expected a bug or seven and didn’t see 1! I’m pretty impressed with that. There’s lots of places to walk around here. Which is good because my dog needs to get out and roam. It is also very quiet here. So quiet. I love it!
For WiFi I am using the hotspot on my Verizon phone and it’s working just great. I’ve been on the computer and streaming Netflix with no problems at all. It just drains the phone battery.
All in all, I would give this place a 9/10 only because its my first time out and don’t know what a 10 should be!
Side note… got my son’s info so I can start sending him things and letters today. YEAH!!!
